COLD STORAGE DOOR SYSTEMS

The most hard-working and physically stressed components of cold storage facilities are their doors. Considering that 70% of heat loss occurs during door transitions, choosing the right door is not just an entry-exit preference but a direct energy-saving decision.

HIGH INSULATION AND LONG-LASTING PERFORMANCE A cold storage facility is only as efficient as the airtightness of its door. At Coolmade, we produce cold room doors that do not create thermal bridges even under the most demanding industrial conditions, are frost-resistant, and are durable enough to withstand high traffic loads.

WHY SHOULD YOU CHOOSE OUR DOORS?

  • Zero Heat Loss: Door leaves have the same high-density (40-42 kg/m³) polyurethane filling as the panel body. It provides complete sealing with a special double gasket system.

  • Anti-Frost Solutions: In negative rooms (-18°C and below), we use easily replaceable heating resistance systems that prevent door gaskets from sticking to the frame.

  • Durable Hardware: We offer complete resistance to corrosion and silent operation with rail systems, hinges, and handles made of stainless steel.

  • Occupational Safety: All our doors feature an internal release (safety handle) mechanism.

OUR DOOR TYPES Every project’s needs are different. You can choose the door type most suitable for your application area below:

  • Hinged (Impact) Doors: Ideal for smaller rooms where personnel transition is common. They can open 90 or 180 degrees and prevent the gasket from rubbing against the floor with a rising hinge system.

  • Sliding Doors: The most preferred door type in industrial warehouses. They are fully compatible with forklift and pallet truck traffic. They open by sliding sideways on a rail system, saving space. Manual or motorized (automatic) options are available.

  • Office and Service Doors: Aesthetic and lightweight doors used between cool areas or preparation sections within the facility. Options include double-acting (bar-type) or single-acting office doors.

TECHNICAL DETAILS AND MATERIAL OPTIONS

  • Panel Thickness: 80 mm, 100 mm, 120 mm, or 150 mm options.

  • Surface Material: Polyester-painted sheet, PVC-coated sheet, or stainless steel (AISI 304).

  • Frame Type: PVC or aluminum anodized frame with a design that prevents thermal bridges.

  • Heating Resistance: 220V frame resistance is standard for frozen storage doors.

COMBINED SOLUTIONS FOR ENERGY SAVING To increase the performance of your doors and prevent sudden heat escape when the door is opened, we recommend combining our cold room doors with the following products:

  • PVC Strip Curtains: Create an invisible barrier while the door is open.

  • High-Speed Roll-Up Doors: Limit heat loss to seconds in heavy traffic.

INSULATED HIGH-SPEED ROLL-UP DOORS

Maximum speed and insulation in the cold chain. The biggest cause of energy loss in cold storage is doors left open during loading and unloading. Insulated high-speed roll-up doors minimize heat transfer with their high operating speed while providing maximum thermal protection when closed, thanks to their specially insulated bodies.

WHAT IS AN INSULATED HIGH-SPEED ROLL-UP DOOR? Unlike traditional heavy sliding doors, these doors open by rapidly rolling up on a vertical axis. They consist of specially filled PVC or sandwich panel layers. They are designed to create a heat barrier at the entrances of frozen storage (-18°C / -25°C) and cold storage (+4°C) rooms without interrupting forklift and personnel traffic.

WHY SHOULD THEY BE PREFERRED?

  • Exceptional Energy Savings: Thanks to opening speeds of 1.5 – 2.5 m/s, the time the door remains open is minimized. This prevents hot air from entering and the cooling unit from overworking.

  • Prevention of Frosting and Icing: By blocking heat transition, it prevents frosting that may occur inside the room and on the door mechanism.

  • Thermal Insulation: Offers a high thermal insulation coefficient thanks to its double-layered, specially insulated fabric or panel structure.

  • Space Saving: Does not require empty side space like sliding doors; it operates with a compact rolling mechanism suitable for ceiling height.

  • Airtightness: Provides complete sealing through special brush and gasket systems in the side channels.

SPECIAL SOLUTIONS FOR FROZEN STORAGE (-18°C / -25°C) High-speed roll-up doors used in deep-freeze rooms feature the following equipment:

  • Heated Side Rails: A resistance system inside the rails prevents the door from freezing and sticking to the rails.

  • Double-Layered Air Cushion: In some models, the air gap between two fabric layers acts as an additional insulation layer.

  • Safety and Control Options: Our modern high-speed roll-up doors are equipped with smart sensors to eliminate industrial accidents.

  • Safety Photocells: Stops the door immediately if an object passes underneath.

  • Radar and Induction Loop Detectors: Automatically opens the door when a forklift approaches and closes it rapidly after the transition is complete.
